In an extensive coaching career spanning many levels, and various countries and continents, Keith Boanas has gained an unparalleled wealth of experience. As is the case with so many aspiring superstars dream, Keith’s chance of a glittering professional playing career was curtailed at a very young age when he was released  from a development  centre run by Chelsea FC  . He went on to play literally thousands of games at leading Amateur and Semi-professional level winning many honours in County and tournament football.

After many years of working in various roles, as well as playing and coaching, he undertook the qualification process in 1986. Between then and to this day he has continued to undertake higher levels and successfully maintained his CPD (continued professional development).
Keith has worked with and assisted in the development of many senior England women internationals such as former England and GB captain Casey Stoney and Eniola Aluko who both played professionally in the UK & overseas  and also his partner & Wife of 20 years UK Football Hall of Fame member Pauline Cope/Boanas.

He has also tutored and mentored many figures from the men’s game including Chris Powel, former England player and head coach at Charlton Athletic , Southend United and former PFA president. His career has included working with Dean Kiely Premier league GK now GK coach at Crystal Palace FC , Sean Dyche Burnley 1st team manger in the EPL , he tutored Simon McMenemy, who had a brief spell as National Manager of the Philippines. Furthermore, others that actively played in the English leagues, Marlon King Birmingham City, Leroy Lita Swansea City, and Jason Euel.Charlton Athletic, Keith’s record of player development is incredibly impressive.

The opportunity arose for him to work in a challenging role with a professional premier league club. He worked hard to help develop the growing women’s game and was at the forefront of women’s soccer during this opportune period of time.

After a record breaking season at Tooting & Mitcham, gaining promotion as Champions he was also working a dual role with Charlton Athletic women’s team on a part-time basis. It was at this time that Keith was offered a full time contract at Charlton covering the senior team, College based academy team and Centre of excellence. This was a challenging opportunity to play an integral part in the development of the fastest growing female participation sport in England. Also to be able to work within the realms of a Men’s Premier League football club utilizing all of their expertise and facilities with the chance of furthering the knowledge and experience already gained. It was whilst at Charlton that he had the opportunity to teach and mentor  Sean Dyche (Burnley FC Manager)  Chris Powell and Dean Kiely through their UEFA B coaching awards.

In his time with Charlton he helped develop around 24 Senior & youth internationals in the female game. To add to his accomplishments Keith has also published three specialised training manuals for grassroots youth development.

What’s more, Keith was also head hunted for the position of assistant academy director at the David Beckham Academy in London which he held for three years before again being headhunted, this time for the role in Estonia.

Chris Powell – Former Charlton Athletic FC Manager & England International

I would have no hesitation in recommending Keith as he would add tremendous experience to any football club / structure. I first came across Keith while I was playing for Charlton in the Premier League and Keith was managing the club’s very successful women’s team. Keith was very conscientious towards not only his players but to his work. I quickly realised that he was also an educator who could inspire people to coach. I embarked on my own coaching journey because of him. I enrolled on my B Licence and was treated to a fantastic week of knowledge and understanding of coaching to the B Licence standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending Keith as he would add tremendous experience to any football club / structure.

Dean Kiely – Crystal Palace FC Goalkeeping Coach & Former Premier League Player

I know Keith would be a positive influence at any football club as his football knowledge and great personality would be a huge asset. I met Keith 15 years ago and I was impressed by his energy, enthusiasm and knowledge as a coach. His work ethic and attitude I found to be excellent, and these qualities seem to rub off on his players and staff. Keith has an ability to set a positive work environment for the people around him and he encouraged me to gain my coaching qualifications. He was the lead coach educator on my B Licence course and once again Keith created an open, learning environment for the candidates to fulfil their coaching potential. I know Keith would be a positive influence at any football club as his football knowledge and great personality would be a huge asset

Signy Aarna – Finnish Premier League Player & Estonia International

The truth is there is absolutely no doubt that Keith has played a significant part in bringing the best out of me. His influence on my football career has been huge since he came to Estonia, and there isn’t anyone else who has been able to motivate me as much.

Casey Stoney – Arsenal Ladies FC & England International, Manchester United Head Coach/Manager

We had a great manager and someone who really developed my game a lot in Keith Boanas. I owe him a lot of credit because he worked with me and got me through times when I was questioning if I wanted to give up or not, especially on the international scene. Keith gave me the mental toughness that I needed throughout the years to get to the top

Amanda Barr – Nottingham Forest LFC & Former England International

Keith is unbelievable. Everyone at Charlton wanted to play for him and he got the best out of all our players. I was always really happy with my performances and the majority of that was down to Keith. He always pushed me and supported me, helping me to play better for the club.

Mark Radvanyi – Head of Media & Analyst Relations at Accenture UK

Keith is a fantastic coach educator who works closely with each of his students to help them be the best coaches they can be. He makes coaching seem effortless and is a highly skilled communicator - something I recognise because of my day job. Keith coached me through my FA badges to my UEFA B Licence. He pushed and encouraged me all the way, and most importantly believed in me. Keith has had a massively positive influence on not only my desire to coach, but on my life in general.

Mark Hudson – Crystal Palace FC Academy Coach & Trust Advisor at the Kinetic Foundation

has been instrumental in the development of my career as a coach. He has been a great source of knowledge and inspiration to me and he is someone who commands respect in the coaching industry for his care and willingness to help all those who aspire to improve themselves.
