FAQs

Your prices are lower than other soccer schools; does this mean less quality from the coaching?

Not at all. We believe our prices are reasonably priced and great value for money .We have probably the most qualified and experienced coaches in Singapore. Our coaches are always well presented, articulate and engaging. Our coaches are carefully selected not just on qualifications alone – we very much believe that a child is very much a product of his/her environment. Therefore our coaches have more than just football knowledge to impart. They come from all walks of life including ex-teachers, current teachers, British High Commission Staff and CEO’s of companies as well as being professional coaches.

Furthermore we firmly believe we have a moral obligation to make football as accessible and affordable as possible for everyone be it Expat or local.

Our coaches work from a structured curriculum under the English FA Grass roots curriculum as well as from Chief Technical Director, Keith Boanas‘ highly acclaimed soccer coaching manual Fun Soccer Games for children, Fun Soccer Games for 11 year olds and Fun soccer Games for 12 to 15 year olds. This means that our coaches turn out to each session, fully briefed and prepared, meaning that sessions can flow and playing time is maximized.

    • How are the children grouped?

Our players are grouped into 3 types:

  • Recreational – players who enjoy playing football for developing social skills, motor skills , fun and meeting new friends and socialising in a fun filled enviroment.
  • Advanced- players who are of a certain mind-set and have a higher application to learn about and play soccer.
  • Elite- players who have a shown high levels of commitment, ability and positive attitude in training.

All in all there is an ESS programme for every player! Here at ESS we encourage inclusive play and welcome any player with a desire to learn something new and have fun!

    • What Ages do you coach?
We coach from age 3 and upwards – with younger children we encourage parent participation in some skill sets and games
    • I notice you already run coaching courses in Singapore ?
Yes, we coach other Academies as well as school teachers from International Schools to become qualified, UK certified Level1 and Level 2 coaches. We have also recently embarked upon running coaching courses in Thailand and Malaysia by invitation from International Schools. This is all part of our remit to provide quality coaching at grass roots level that is affordable and progressive.
    • Why do you have different pricing structures?
We feel it is grossly unfair to herd all players under one price – especially when there are time constraints for certain age groups and prolonged water breaks. Our pricing structure is part of our remit to make soccer affordable and accessible to all.Our rates are between $80.00 dollars to $125.00 a term, dependent on age and location. Our term is only 5 weeks and therefore you are not tied in. We charge a one off registration fee. There is no deposit to pay. And there is no need to pay whilst on holiday or absent with notice.

    • How do you select coaches?
We employ both local and UK/European coaches. Our coaches that hail from the UK are CRB checked, even though it is not a local requirement. We only accept those that are Level 1 or 2 EAC or English FA/UEFA/AFC qualified. However qualifications alone do not “maketh” the coach in our mind. Our coaches are experienced not only in coaching but also in all aspects of life, especially their working life. Our coaches are a mixture qualified teachers, ex British Foreign and Commonwealth staff, British High commission, MOE teachers, BBC financial analysts, qualified volunteers that have undergone accredited training and some are actual parents themselves ! In our opinion this all adds to the ability of a coach to engage and relate to children in offering global experience and social values.
